Artist Statement

My artwork is done mostly on paper with pastels, they are drawings, not paintings. I incorporate water color, acrylics, ink, and gold pigment on
some. I always use good quality, heavy, acid-free paper or rice paper. All of my artwork done on paper is framed using rag mats, museum
glass, and beautiful Larson Julh moldings. Frames are created in my own custom-framing studio.

I love the soft effect pastels create when I layer pastels with water and ink to make the powdered pigments soak into the paper.

My influences may be quite obvious; Gustav Klimpt, Egon Scheile, and the pre-Raphaelites. Things that inspire me are nature, the seasons,
fashion, music, children, animals, my travels, and my friends, to list a few.

The subject matter of my art usually involves people, relationships between people, or people and animals, and their landscates. I work with
three dimensional figures juxtaposed with two dimensional backgrounds/ landscapes of gold. Or, I use more colors, putting more detail in
elaborate landscapes and interiors. I feel my drawings are for everyone, my desire is that all people can relate, understand, and enjoy my work!
